Parthenium is a genus of North American shrubs. It is the family of Astteroideoe. The name parthenium is derived from either the greek word parthenos. Common names include Santa Maria, Santa maria faverview, White top weed, Famine weed and Congress weed in India. It is locally known as Carrot grass, Congress grass or Gasar Ghans,it is a common invasive species in India, Australia, and parts of Africa. The best established controlled organism so far is a beetle native to Mexico in 1984 it since has become widespread and will established in the sub continent. In varios countries such as Australia South Africa have released under revolution against parthenium. The weed is equally dangerous for all flora and fauna. It is highly dangerous for humans. It sucks the nutritions substances from soils thus converting fertile ground into unfertileones. So that parthenium plant is enemy of agriculture and also enemy of humanity. But at the same time some medicinal uses by this parthenium are given below. The traditional medicine to treat fever, diarrhoea, neorologic disorders urinery treat infections dysentary, Malaria and more.
In Tamilnadu parthenium occupied almost many areas. In Coimbatore and its surroundings mainly covered this plant extreamly. This plant grows 1 to 1.5 meter tall for quickly. These crops have three generation for an year. This plant spread seeds mostly. One plant generates about 10000 seeds easily. The germination of this seed is higher than the other seeds. The seeds germinates in any situation also every lands and also any times. The seeds are smooth in condition so that they spread easily to anywhere. Temprature and sunlight does not effect this plant. This plants usually occupied in railway tracks, road sides and around house hold areas. This is poisoness plant so that humans effected by this plant mostly. So that destroyed this plant is an important one . To control this plant at first remove them for smaller plant before flowering time. Then controlled by using chemical medicine Gramaxone 2 milli litter with 2-4-D .5 gram per litter to apply on this plant. Another method announced by Tamilnadu Agriculture University is easy and not costlier one for everybody. 200 gram salt with one litter water mixed also with one litter per one milli Teeppaal or soap water solution is apply on this plant during sunlight. Mixing of soap water is or teeppaal is the salt stay on the leaves and flowers in long time and spoil the plant. After 3 or 4 days the parthenium plants destroyed and controlled. Also controlled the germination power of this salt water method.
