Chillies

The chili pepper is the fruit of plants from the genus Cabcicum members of night shade family Solanaceae in Australia,Britain,India,Ireland,Newzeland,Pakistan,South Africa and in other Asian countries. It is usually known simply as chilly. Chilly pepper originated in Mexico and spread across the world used in both food and medicine. World wide India is the biggest producer,consumer and exporter of chilly peppers. Andhra Pradesh is the whole contribute 75% of export position in India. Guntur in Andhra Pradesh produces 30 % of all the chillies in India. Chilly peppers have been a part of human diet in world wide. Though there are only a few commonly used species there are many cultivars and methods of preparing chill peppers that have different names for culinary use green and red bell peppers. Peppers are commonly broken down into three groupings, bell peppers, sweet peppers and hot peppers. Some of the worlds hottest peppers are Carolina Reaper in USA, Trinidad moruga Scorpian in Trinidad and Jolokia in India. Chill pepper pods used fresh or dried. Chillies are dried to preserve them for long time which may also be done by picking.
Guntur chilly is a group of chilly cultivars from Guntur district Andhrs pradhesh in India. They are renowned globally and exported to Asia, Canada and Europe. Guntur district is a main producer and exporter of most varieties of chillies and chill powder from India to countries like Srilanka, Bangladesh, South Korea, UK and USA. Chillies have varies colors and flavours because of the level of  Capsaicin in them. Guntur chillies from an important part of curries and various popular dishes.  Teja chilli is a fine variety of Guntur chilli.  Guntur sannam-S4 type is the most famous type among chillies and has a great demand throughout the world. It has its peak harvesting season from December to May.  The annual production of this type is approximately 280000 tons. Other Guntur chills are Phatki, Indo5, Ankus, Bedki and Madhubala. Another one variety is Kashmiri chilli. This variety is cultivated in Kashmir and this is different from Kuntur variety.
In Tamilnadu chilly plant cultivated many places mainly Erode, Darmapuri Madurai and Coimbatore districts. In Coimbatore chilli cultivated mainly two purposes one is for green chilli harvest and the other one is for chilli fruit harvest. Green chillies harvested by farmers and sell to vegetable market. These are fresh and sold by businessman in Kinathukkadavu, Sundarapuram and Pollachi markets. Picked by farmers at early morning green chillies are packed at small packages and send it to nearby markets. Many times higher in cost but some times green chillies have no demand and no cost so much.  Chilli powder is main use in Tamilnadu. All of the side dishes cooked by the mixing of chilli powder. Every home in Tamilnadu chilly powder is must for cooking from ancient days to nowadays Fried items and boiled items are need to mix for cooking with chilly powder. For the pungent taste chilly powder is mostly needed. Correct mixing of the chilli powder and salt is the top most taste in cooking.  So chilly is an important food item for any where any time any body.
