Guava
Guavas are common tropical fruits cultivated and enjoyed in many many tropical and subtropical regions. Guavas originated from an area thought to extend from Mexico and was distributed throughout tropical America and Caribbean region. Guava fruits usually 4 to 12 centimeters long are found oval depending on the species. The guava fruit grows on a small tree with a wide short canopy and a sturdy single to multy stermed trunk. The guava tree is an interesting plant with mottled greenish bark long 3 to 7 inch serrated leaves. Guava trees produce white 1 inch flowers that yield to small round oval or pear shaped fruits. The guava plants thrive in any soil with good drainage and full sun for best flowering and fruit production. There are three different types of guava all of which are suitable for container guava. 1.Tropical guava.2.Strawberry guavas.3.Pinapple guavas. Guavas do not need frequent deep watering. Guavas have shallow roots that absorb water and nutrients rapidly. These self fruiting trees are need very low maintanance.
In Tamilnadu guava cultivated many places. Salem,Dharmapuri, Coimbatore, Dindigul are some places for guava cultivation. This crop does not need more rain or water. Guava fruits have seeds in its flesh but hybrid varieties have no seeds in its flesh. This is also a medicinal fruit. The wood of guava trees used for some furnitures and house hold items. In Palani temple guava fruit sale is famous. Parrot mostly like this fruits.
