Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is situated at a distance of 89 kilometer from Palakkad and 44 kilometer from Pollachi adjacent to Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamilnadu. Although Parambikulam belongs to Kerala it is accessible only via Pollachi in Tamilnadu. The Western Ghats mountain range along with Anamalai hills and Parambikulam is under consideration of Parambikulam wild life sanctuary also consideration by the UNESCO world heritage committee. It is located between logitude 76 degree East and latitude 10 degree North. There is 600 elevation opening through Nelliampathy hills. From the Anamalai hills on the Northern boundary of the sanctuary at Thoothampara major peaks of the sanctuary are Karimala gopuram in southern boundary and PandaravarI in in north Kuchi malai, vengoli malai in East and Puliarapadam in west side. There are seven major valleys here. 
Also three major rivers are there at Parambikulam Sholayar and Thekkadi. The Karappara river and Kuriarkutty river also drain the area. The sanctuary has a variety of trees mainly teak,neem,sandalwood and rosewood. The oldest teak tree Kannimara teak tree exist here. It is about 450 years old and has a girth of 6.8 meters and a height of 49.5 meters. The sanctuary has a rich diversity of animal life including-mammals-39 species, amphibians-16 species, birds-268 species,reptiles-61 species, fish-47 species and butterflies 124 species. This sanctury is also referred to as the- state capital of the massive guar- by wild life. 
The challenging hill ranges here are placed at a attitude of 300 meter to 1438 meter above from sea level and the place offers a good climate with temporary ranging from 15 15 degree celsius  to 32 degree celsius. Greenary is on of the best protected ecological parks in the country. From the elusive tiger, to the fiery leopard, the majestic Indian elephant,fresh water crocodiles is the home to a plethora,of endemic flora and fauna.
