CAULIFLOWER


Many vegetables we have to eat for our food. But one of the flower is also a vegetable known as Cauliflower. All over the world cauliflower is an important vegetable for food items. It is the species of Brassica Oleracea. It is the mustard family or Brassicaceae. This is one year cultivated plant. Flower buds edible and for cooking purposes. In the early days Cyprus and also Western Europe are the origins of cauliflower on 12th century on wards. Cauliflower meaning Cabbage Flower. But not a cabbage in taste. There are hundreds of varieties used around the world. Many colors in cauliflowers all over the world. White- White cauliflower is the most common in color surrounded by green leaves. Orange- Orange cauliflower contains orange pigment and have pro vitamin A compound with it. Green- Green cauliflower is known as Green Goddess having green headed in shape. Purple- Purple color is in this cauliflower. It is also called Purple Cape. Great Britain and Southern Italy are places places of purple cauliflower. In the production of cauliflower India and China are main producers. The second producers are United States, Spain, Mexico, and Italy. In India it is cultivated hills area mostly. In Tamilnadu cauliflower cultivated Ooty and its surroundings. It is exported to other places such as Chennai, Coimbatore and main cities. Also Karnataka, Kerala are the states to import cauliflower. Dried cauliflower is a popular dish all over the world.Europe, South Asia and United States are the main countries used cauliflower. In 19th century fried cauliflower found in Germany, Austria, Britain and United States also in France. In India it is fried in variety of dishes. North India also in the form pakoras. In Chennai and many places Chilli Cauliflower is a famous item. In the road sides small stalls served chilli at evening times. In Israel it is a street food. Also Italy served as a street food in many places. So cauliflower is edible and tasty food.
