Gooseberry is a kind of fruit planted all over the world. Mostly seemed to be in tropical regions. It is an edible fruit. Nature of this fruit belongs to North America and also Britain. This is not only an edible fruit also an ornamental plant in some countries. This fruit was mostly popular in 19th century. Although gooseberries are now abundant in Germany and France. This is an ancient fruit but popular after 19th century onwards. The gooseberry grow well in England as of cool conditions. Also this plant have been grow under the shadows of apple trees in London. But in some places explosure of the sun light needed for good growth. Ribes gooseberries are commonly raised rather than seed. Gooseberry plants are also a preferred host plant. Black bears, birds also some mammals eat this fruit. This plants growing naturally in Alphine forests and also rocky wood forests. Rocky wood forests are also forest with trees of tall in growth. So many forests suitable for this plant to have a healthy climate. 


Not only in America also this fruit grown successfully in Scotland, Norway and Britain because of its climate conditions. This gooseberry fruit mostly shown in various colors. Green gooseberry commonly in India. Also red gooseberry shown in some European countries. Purple, yellow, white and also black gooseberries shown in the other countries. In India red gooseberries also seemed many places. This fruits are edible eaten by raw. Naturally this fruits have rich source of vitamin C also micro nutrients. Gooseberry most often refers from two species of the genus ribes. One of them is Ribes Uva Crispa native of Europe.  The other one is Ribes Hirtellum native of America. In India this is a fruit as used to prepared mostly side dish as of pickle for the cooking purpose. Modern cultivation also been made by peoples in many places for commercial use. In China also this fruit as a fruit of pickle process. Ancient days this fruit used for eat with raw. But later new methods for the use of gooseberry by humanity. 


In Tamilndu this fruit seemed many places. Mostly all houses at the backyard of small place only need for the cultivation of this fruit. This plant growth such like a small tree. No need for water irrigation. Also no need fertilization and heavy rain for its growth. In Tamil it is called as 'Nellikkai' This gooseberry have two types in Tamilnadu. One is small size gooseberry. This fruits have the taste of lime. This fruits used to make side dishes for the use of eat in lunch time. Other gooseberry is slightly large in size and used with raw also the taste is different such like sugar after the eaten then in some minutes. This gooseberry used as a medicine for some places in Siddha medicine. So this fruits not only for medicine purpose also as used for pickle purpose. Pickles of this fruit packed by small packs and marketed all places in all stalls even very small stalls with cheap rates. Even two rupees pickle packs also marketed by stalls. Small pickle produced houses are produced this pickle packets for their use and also as commercial use. So gooseberry is also a cheapest fruit with more healthy.
