Pineapple is a famous most delicious fruit. Pineapple known as Annasi. In Tamilnadu these fruit marketed all places. Every bus stand these fruit marketed chief cost with small packages for peoples. Small merchants purchase these fruit from markets and cut it in small pieces and sell with low prices. So every people buy these fruit pieces and eat for their desire. During daytime pineapple mostly liked by children and also liked everybody. Childrens have great desire to taste this fruit. Also pineapple juice served with most delicious and sweet with sugar added for drink. In Tamilnadu this fruit is cheap and best for all people. Some of them purchased full fruit and tasted it with whole family. During summer season these fruit has got first in place for middle class family for eat and enjoy. The merchants install small stalls in bus stand and road sides of every city to make a good income everyday. Cut the pineapple and pack it in small packs is also a small cottage industry of some more people. In Coimbatore, Pollachi such like these places we have to see pineapple stalls for customers. Also in Tamilnadu pineapple is a good income fruit.


Pineapple is family of Bromeliaceae. Indigenous to South America. It has been cultivated in many countries. Commonly grown in tropical regions. Hawaii,United States,Costa Rica,Brazil,Philippines and India mostly cultivated. It grow small shrub. Grow one meter tall. The plant has short stocky stem with tough waxy leaves. Harvested 12 to 20 months. It has 30 narrow fleshy rough leaves leaves with sharp shines with 30 cm long surrounding a thick stem grows into a spinke like inflorescence trimerous flowers. Then develop into berries with large compact multiple fruit. The pineapple comprises five botanical varieties. 1.Ananassoides. 2.Bracteatus. 3.Comosus. 4.Erectifolius.5.Parguazensis. Pineapples are pollinated mostly by humming birds and bats. Many different varieties in the world but main variety is 'Smooth Cayenne'. The first commercial plantation was established in the year 1886. Maui Pineapple company was the first commercial company in the world. The Philippines remain one of the top exporters in the world. 


In our history records Columbus plant back to Spain and called it 'Pina De Indis',meaning 'Pine at the Indians' The pineapple fascinated Europeans as a fruit of colonialism. In England the first pineapple was grown at Dorney court at Dorney. In 1773 pineapple grown Versallies in Russia. Pineapple contain 86%water,13%carbohydrates,protein,fat and also vitamin C and manganese in it. Flesh and juice used in cuisines around the world. Crushed pineapple is used in jam, sweets and also for pizza. Pineapple vinegar is an ingredient. Also pineapple juice with grain vinegar. The pineapple production of world records indicates that Costa Rica in first place then Philippines,Brazil,Indonesia,Thailand,India and China. So pineapple has great and important delicious fruit all over the world.
