PAPAYA FRUIT


Papaya is one of the delicious and also the medicinal fruit all over the world. Papaya fruit original from Central America. It grows tropical regions. Hawaii,Philippines, India, Srilanka, Australia are the main countries cultivated papaya. Different names about papaya all over the world. In Australia it is called Paw paw. In Asia it is called Kepaya, Lapaya or Tapaya. In French it is called Figuir iles. Spanish name Melon Zapote. Many varieties in the world in papaya. Kapaho solo, Waimanolo, Higgins, Wilder, Hortus gold, Honey gold, Bettina, Sunny bank, Guina gold, Washington are some varieties in papaya. It is the family of Caricaceae genus of Carica. This a small branched tree with single stem. It grows about 5 to 10 meter tall. The leaves about 50 to 70 cm diameter  large. Plant contains latex. Latex is stable dispersion of polimer microparticles in water. Flowers are sweet scented open at night and pollinated by wind and insects. The fruit is large and 15 to 45 cm long. also 10 to 30 cm diameter central cavity attached numerous black seeds. 


Two kinds of papayas commonly grown. One has sweet, red or orange flesh. Other is yellow flesh in Australia. These are called red papaya and yellow papaya. Other kind picked green is called green papaya. Production of papaya India in first place. 45 percentage of papayas produced in India. Brazil, Mexico, America, Indonesia and Srilanka are other countries. Ripe fruit of papaya is eaten raw. Unripe green fruit can not be eaten raw because poisonous latex in it so that these may cooked and eat . Green unripe papayas boiled and used for cooking purposes. Used many savory dishes salads of papaya all over the world. Papain is the most important one in papaya. Green papaya fruit and its latex are rich in Papain. Used for tenderizing meat and other proteins used by Americans, Caribeans, and Philippines. It is included as a component powdered meat tenderizers. Raw papaya pulp contains 88 percent of water 11 percent of carbohydrates and also source of Vitamin C in it. Also minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, and also manganese, potassium and sodium in it.

Health benefits of papaya- Powerful antioxidant found in papaya flesh and protects retinal cells from damage. Also it helps to counter ashma with higher consumption. Cancer and its effective prevented by papaya in younger age. Vitamin K is in papaya. It is important for bone and also cure bone fractures. Glucose controlled by it also prevent diabetics. Heart disease and blood pressure also prevent because potassium in it.It is popular breakfast in many countries. In India it is cultivated many places. In Tamilnadu it is cultivated and harvested in many places. Every home have papaya fruit in its backyards. It is cheap and best fruit in Coimbatore and surrounding places. Also exported some other places. In some places it is cultivated for the purpose of papain. It is used for medicine and exported even foreign countries. Cheapest fruit also energitic fruit.
